Cambodian Living Arts<\/p><\/div>The mission of Cambodian Living Arts is to facilitate the social, cultural and healing transformation of Cambodia\u00a0through the arts. The non-profit builds the capacity of artists and the arts community by promoting awareness of\u00a0the arts, and by advocating for the arts with cultural policymakers and major institutions. For the first ten years\u00a0the international NGO was run by passionate volunteers, and in 2008 Fresh Sound funded a three-year grant for a strategic\u00a0planning consultant and the transition dollars needed to attract a high-level arts executive from the private\u00a0sector to become the organization\u2019s first executive director. Within two years of these grants, Cambodian Living\u00a0Arts had attracted major foundations, including the Rockefeller and Ford Foundations, to position a major arts festival of leading Cambodian artists and cultural workers in New York at\u00a0the city\u2019s leading cultural institutions.<\/p>\n
